FIS WORLD SNOW DAY. Събота, 13-ти октомври 2012 г. маркира точно 100 дни до второто издание на най-голямото зимно събитие на планетата. Вторият Световен ден на снега на ФИС, който ще се състои на 20-ти януари 2013 г., има за основна цел да изведе навън сред прородата, на ски пистите и на снега децата на възраст между 4-ри и 14 години, заедно с техните семейства, в рамките на един ден, изпълнен със забавления, различни приключения и състезания на снега. Вече 72 различни локации от 20 различни държави по целия свят са обявили своето участие в отпразнуването на Световния ден на снега, коеот е с 38% повече отколкото заявки бяха получени във ФИС по същото време миналата година.
България също се включи активно в отпразнуването на първия в историята Световен ден на снега. Българският професионален онлайн ресурс за ски и борд спорт SKI.BG, съвместно с БФСки и Столична Община, организираха в парка зад музея „Земята и хората” до НДК в София един невиждан в българска градска среда спортен празник, посветен на снега. World Snow Day falls under FIS's ‘Bring Children to the Snow’ campaign. Since its creation in 2007, this campaign celebrates winter sports as a fun, healthy and social recreational activity for children. World Snow Day 2013 will again take place on a global scale, celebrating snow sports as part of a healthy lifestyle, and fostering global awareness of the importance of nurturing the natural environment.
FIS President Gian Franco Kasper said: "The first edition of World Snow Day was a great success and we now continue to build on this momentum. Through FIS’s Bring Children to the Snow campaign we seek to communicate that winter sports is something for everyone. We hope that the 2nd FIS World Snow Day will encourage even more youngsters to take to the snow for the first time and help us foster a future generation of snow lovers."
Countries committed to participating include Austria, Canada, Finland, Germany, Great Britain, Norway, India, China, Poland, Sweden, Spain, Switzerland and the USA, among others. Whilst the event’s themes to Explore, Experience and Enjoy the snow will be shared across the world, the worldwide festivities will recognize the unique winter sports culture of each location. Organizations interested in hosting a World Snow Day event will receive event guidelines and suggestions for the types of events and activities to host, but are also encouraged to be creative and unique. Although World Snow Day is primarily geared for young children and their families, people of all ages are invited to attend and the activities offered range from beginner lessons to various fun options for those that already participate.
