ALPINE SKI WORLD CUP. ST MORITZ – The competition weekend could not have been better for Tina Maze. She won the giant slalom in front of Viktoria Rebensburg and Tessa Worley, making it her third podium in a row!

Out of breath, she said after the race: "I can be really happy with my weekend. It is hard to keep this tempo, to go to push in every race and go to the limits to be really fast. It’s been a really positive day with sunshine and everything. I am very happy!"

Last year's giant slalom World Cup champion Viktoria Rebensburg from Germany only came in 0.08 seconds behind. "I have been very close to Tina today. I am on the right direction, improving with my technique. That’s a really good thing and it was a great result for me here today. But it still is a better view from the very top of the podium (laughs)", she reported in the press conference following the race.

With 0.55 seconds behind the winner, France's 23-year-old Tessa Worley had her first podium finish since last season. She is feeling confident on working herself up in the giant slalom ranking in the races to come: "I knew, I could be on the podium this season and now it already worked out. In the second run, I really wanted to go for it. It was a bit tougher, the snow was hard and bumpy. But it was great, so here I am on the podium, hopefully more are to come during the winter!"

Lindsey Vonn, champion of the super-G from the previous day, made a mistake during the second run and only finnished on 27th position.

Tina Maze now leads the FIS World Cup overall ranking with 677 points ahead of Maria Hoefl-Riesch (443) and Lindsey Vonn (414). What can stop her this winter? “Don’t stop me now cuz I am having a good time ”, she happily announced in the press conference following the race.

The ladies will meet next week in Val d'Isère, France, for a downhill competition on 14th December followed by a super-G the next day.
