. world ski news : Green light for 58th Four-Hills-Tournament - 25 Декември 2009 - 21:11
The first period of the Bauhaus FIS Ski Jumping World Cup completed with the three-event competition weekend in Engelberg (SUI). Prior to the Olympic season's staging of the 58th Four-Hills-Tournament, the early season can be summarized as a duel between Austrian Gregor Schlierenzauer and Swiss Simon Ammann who also split the wins last weekend in Engelberg. Together they have won five out of six competitions, and are clearly dominating the scene. However, the situation was the same last season yet it was Wolfgang Loitzl (AUT) who spoiled their plans for a Tournament victory a year ago.
Besides the other Austrians - altogether a strong team - and Norway's Bjoern Einar Romoeren, the Poles and the Germans can travel to Oberstdorf optimistic with their promising young teams. Thanks to the cold spell across most of Europe last weekend the four organizers from Oberstdorf to Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Innsbruck and Bischofshofen have been able to give the green light for their respective events in terms of snow coverage. The ticket sales, too, have been advancing at levels beyond expectations.
