Antalya, 5th June, 2010 - Meeting at the 47th International Ski Congress in Antalya (TUR), the FIS Council made the following decisions on proposal of the Cross-Country Committee:

Viessmann FIS Cross-Country World Cup calendar 2010/11 confirmed

For the first time in the Viessmann FIS Cross-Country World Cup season 2010/11, there will be a three-day multi-stage event at the Nordic Opening in Ruka, Kuusamo (FIN). The 5th FIS Tour de Ski will see two stages each at Oberhof and Oberstdorf (both GER) before moving to Toblach and Cortina (both ITA) and the traditional conclusion with two stages in Val di Fiemme (ITA).

The venue of the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships 2009, Liberec (CZE) will return to the calendar with a sprint weekend in January 2011 while Drammen (NOR) will host its first World Cup distance races at the competition venue Konnerud right before the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships 2011 in Oslo (NOR).

Modifications to the International Competition Rules and World Cup Rules for 2010/11

Relating to the World Cup Rules and International Competitions Rules (ICR), adaptations were made in order to formalize the inclusion of the FIS Race Director Assistant. This new position will be the technical link between the teams and the Organizing Committees, as well support the preparation and realization of the competitions.

Modifications to the rules for the multi-stage World Cup events with 3 stages were accepted to incorporate adjustments to the number of bonus seconds available for stage winners.

The rules concerning intermediate sprints for bonus World Cup points in long distance mass start races were also updated by allowing an additional bonus position in the long distances over 30 km (for ladies) and 50 km (for men).

Furthermore, a rule regarding the possibility to exchange skis during a competition was established. In the future, a maximum of 3 exchanges are allowed in competitions up to 30 km, and a maximum of 4 exchanges in competitions longer than 30 km.

Ski marking will no longer be mandatory unless there is an advance request by the Jury. Moreover, in order to facilitate jury work, new articles concerning the definition of obstruction and overtaking responsibility were included in the ICR.

With regards to FIS Points, the system for the FIS Marathon Cup was approved as was a new FIS Points calculation for multi-stage events with two or more stages.
