OLYMPICS. Hermod Bjorkestoel, FIS Homologation designer, Tapani Parm YLE Sport Director, Igor Belomestnov, Russian Cross-Country Ski Federation expert, coaches of Russian National Team Yuri Kaminski and Oleg Perevozchikov visited Sochi between 14 and 16 September. Experts made inspection of Olympic cross-country ski courses.
There were defined zones for the driving of TV-skidoos and additional trees that were needed to be cut to get better TV coverage of the competition. Experts recommended adjustments in the profiling of concrete most challenging parts of courses and made changes in Sprint courses including last curve before the entry to the stadium.
In general the construction works at the courses is carried out according to the master plan prepared by the SMC Ltd in cooperation with Hermod Bjorkestol. Trees' cutting process is completed and courses are cleaning up of the wood. Ground works at the stadium are about to begin.
