Women's ski jumping in Sochi 2014?

SKI JUMPING. The introduction of the women's World Cup in winter 2011/12 is now approved. This was confirmed by the International Ski Federation (FIS) and the fall meetings in Zurich.

The World Cup series might start early December 2011 in Lillehammer and end on March 10th at the Midtstubakken in Oslo. But all locations and dates still have to be approved.

In Lillehammer together with the men?

Possible locations in the calendar are Lillehammer, Val di Fiemme (ITA), Hinzenbach in Austria and Brattleboro in the USA. The competitions in Lillehammer might be held on the same weekend as the men's World Cup.

Six jumpers per nation, at least 15 years of age

A competition in Zao in Japan is also planned at the moment. Events shall also take place in Germany, Poland and Slovenia, locations have not been named yet.

Six athletes will be allowed to compete per nation, they have to be at least 15 years old. Just like in the men's World Cup, the host nation will have an additional national group.

Women's ski jumping in Sochi 2014?

Women’s ski jumping could be added to the Sochi Olympics.

The IOC Program Commission is believed to be ready to deliver recommendations on new disciplines for the Sochi 2014 sports program, a package that would include women’s ski jumping that has been endorsed by the International Ski Federation.

While the IOC Program Commission met September 30th at IOC headquarters Lausanne, no details of the meeting have been disclosed. The 16-member commission chaired by Franco Carraro will present its report to the ruling IOC Executive Board later this month.

IOC rules require that new disciplines for an Olympics be approved three years before the Games, a deadline now looming for Sochi 2014.
