SKI JUMPING CONTINENTAL CUP. There were two winners in the first Continental Cup competition in the new ski jumping center in Erzurum in Turkey.
Finland's Anssi Koivuranta and Stefan Thurnbichler from Austria both finished first. While Thurnbichler was already in the lead after the first round with a jump on 101 m, Koivuranta was only eighth at that point. In the final round the Austrian jumped on 100 m and the Finn on 105 m. At the end both shared the victory with a total of 252.0 points.
The third place went to Norwegian Kim Rene Elverum Sorsell, who moved up from place 12 to the podium with a 103 m jump in the second round.
In absence of the two best Germans Stephan Hocke and Richard Freitag, who are competing in the World Cup in Engelberg, David Winkler was the best of his team as seventh. For the 21-year-old this is the best result of his career.

Thurnbichler wins second competition
Not only at the World Cup in Engelberg, but also at the second Continental Cup competition in Erzurum the Austrian team celebrated a double victory.
Stefan Thurnbichler, who already won the first event ex aequo with Anssi Koivuranta, captured the victory with jumps on 100 m and 100.5 m (251.5 points).
The second place went to his teammate Mario Innauer, who was fourth after the first round, with 243.5 points (100 m and 98.5 m)
Kim Rene Elverum Sorsell was only 6th after the first round but with a jump on 99.5 m in the final round and a total of 243.0 points he landed on the podium as third.
With Manuel Poppinger the next Austrian followed as fourth, ahead of the two best Germans Felix Brodauf and Marinus Kraus. The second winner of Saturday's event, Anssi Koivuranta, finished seventh on Sunday.
Poland's Piotr Zyla was on a very good second place after the first round, but with a weaker jump in the final he lost some places and came in ninth.
Two famous names in ski jumping, Primoz Peterka and Dimitri Vassiliev, shared the 29th place.
