SKI JUMPING, JUNIOR WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS. Under very cold temperatures of about minus 13° C in Otepaepae (EST) Bulgarian Vladimir Zografski won the prestigous title at the Junior World Championships. The 17-year-old, who attracted attention with good results this winter, was already in the lead after the first round with 98 m and 95 m in the final were enough to win with a total of 255.0 points.

"This morning I didn't believe that I would become a World Champion. I only believed that it can happen if everything works out well. I worked with my coach for two years and it worked. This medal was my dream", said the new champion who is now a successor of athletes like Gregor Schlierenzauer, Janne Ahonen and Michael Uhrmann.

Bronze medal for Estonia
The second place went to Austrian Stefan Kraft (251.0 points) who showed the longest jump of the day with 100 m in the final round. ."I didn't think that I could win a medal. It's a nice hill, I really like it", told Kraft.
Local hero Kaarel Nurmsalu sensationally won the bronze medal. The Estonian was third after the first round and although there were difficult conditions in the final he won the medal with 249.0 points. "I didn't reckon with that. Actually tomorrow should be my day in nordic combined. I thought that maybe I can be in the Top 10, I just wanted to see the level in ski jumping", said Nurmsalu.
Except Vladimir Zografski, the favorites could not meet the expectations. Richard Freitag from Germany was the best German as eighth.
Ten nations in Top 12
Anders Fannemel from Norway was fourth, already eight points behind the podium. Swiss Marco Grigoli finished fifth, ahead of Stefan Lackner from Austria. Best Finn was Sami Niemi as seventh, followed by Norwegian Espen Roee.
Alexandre Mabboux, who surprised as second after the first round, came in tenth overall. Best athlete from Poland was Klemens Muranka (11th), followed by the best Czech. So jumpers from ten different nations landed in the Top 12.
