ALPINE SKI WORLD CUP. ARBER-ZWIESEL, Germany – The wind is ripping up on the racecourse in Arber-Zwiesel and after delaying Saturday’s women’s World Cup giant slalom race, officials decided to cancel it due to continuing strong winds and bad visibility.
The race is rescheduled for Sunday, with the first run set to begin at 9:15 a.m. and the second at 12:15 p.m. Sunday’s forecast is calling for similar cloudy weather but possibly lighter wind.
The wind began picking up during Friday’s women’s slalom in Arber-Zwiesel. Although racers said visibility was bad, the course conditions were good and the wind did not affect the slalom race. Both officials and athletes agreed that running a giant slalom in such conditions would prove considerably more challenging.
Stay tuned for further updates regarding Sunday’s race schedule in Arber-Zwiesel.
