. world ski news : Bardal wins ski jumping qualification in Lahti - 11 Март 2011 - 21:12
Bulgarian Zografski qualified with 39th place
SKI JUMPING WORLD CUP. Anders Bardal from Norway is still in the good form he had at the World Championships in Oslo and won the qualification for the individual competition at the 86th Lahti Ski Games with a jump on 125.5 m (132.0 points). The same distance was also jumped by Finnish Youngster Jarkko Maeaettae - born in 1994 - and Czech Lukas Hlava but they got less points than Bardal and came in second and third.
There were difficult conditions at the Salpaussalkae-hill, on which Andreas Widhoelzl from Austria still hold the hill record. That was also the reason for the cancellation of the final round. It was also not always easy in the qualification, but all-in-all it was fair. Only Manuel Fettner from Austria and Russian Denis Kornilov had bad luck with the wind conditions and could not qualify.
Finns strong in the qualification
Other jumpers did not have problems with the qualification. Anders Jacobsen, Olli Muotka, Martin Schmitt, Daiki Ito, Anssi Koivuranta and Robert Kranjec - all of them were doing well. So three Finnish jumpers were in the Top 10.
Freund best of the pre-qualified
Some of the pre-qualified athletes, like the Austrian World Champions Gregor Schlierenzauer, Martin Koch, Andreas Kofler and Thomas Morgenstern. The best of the Top 10 of the the overall World Cup was Severin Freund with 128 m. This was also the longest jump of the qualification. Adam Malysz and Simon Ammann landed after 125.5 m.
Janne Ahonen could also easily qualify for the competition in his home town Lahti. So the stage is set for his last individual competiton on Sunday. On Saturday a team competition will take place.
Some jumpers took the trip to southern Finland who don't compete in the World Cup often. Dimitri Ipatov from Russia, Bulgarian Bogomil Pavlov or Illimar Paern from Estonia - all of these athletes try their luck towards the end of the season. And Paern could qualify for the competition.
