The Championships will take place at the Afriski Ski Resort in Lesotho and covers all age groups for male and female competitors. National titles are awarded in the Slalom and Giant Slalom events to SA Citizens only.

Competition Rules 2011
 
1. Events
Alpine Slalom (SL) & Alpine Giant Slalom (GS)
2. Entry
The South African National Ski Championships are open to both S.A. citizens and visiting nationalities. Only South African Citizens (S.A. Passport holders) qualify for National titles, trophies and medals. All South African competitors must be a member of a club affiliated to Snow Sports South Africa.
3. Age Groups
Age groups are established according to the year of birth (YoB) and based on international standards (FIS).

Children 2 (K2) . . . . . 1998 to 1997
Juniors . . . . . . . . . . 1996 to 1995

4. Registration
An official Entry Form must be completed and delivered to the Race Secretary before 5p.m. on the day before the event.
5. Entry Fee
An entry fee of R250.00 covers all events and must be paid in cash at registration.
6. Event Notice Board
The Event Notice Board will contain all official notices, timetables, event changes, start lists and results.
7. Race Meeting
Race meetings will be held every evening before the competition. Bib (start) numbers will be drawn for all registered competitors.
8. Bibs
Bibs will be ready for collection after the draw. Bibs must be returned immediately after every race.
9. Course Marshals and Protocol
Course and gates will be under the jurisdiction of the Course Marshals, who will document and report all rule infringements to the Race Secretary.
10. Course Inspection
The course has to be inspected during the time period stipulated by the race committee. Racers inspecting the course may only sideslip through the gates. Any competitor who is caught skiing through the gates during inspection will be disqualified.
11. Start and Timing
It is the responsibility of every competitor to be at the start on time. The start referee will coordinate the line-up at the start and will give instructions to racers to take up positions in the start gate. Once the start referee has announced that the course is clear the competitor has a 5 second time window to go through the start gate. During any race, non-racing skiers and spectators must under no circumstances cross the finish line.
12. Start-order
The competition starts with Minis, children 1 + 2 and juniors, 1st and 2nd run, followed by Seniors and Masters ( Ladies and Men). The 1st and 2nd runs for juniors are in bib order.
The top ten in Ladies and Men, will start in reversed order for the 2nd run. Racers missing or straddling a gate or not finishing their run will be disqualified. The winner is the racer with the lowest combined time for both runs.
13. Protests
Any protests must be communicated without delay to the Race Secretary. The Jury may grant a provisional re- run, should more time be needed to investigate the protest. Impeded racers can appeal to a Course Marshal for a re-run. The decision of the Jury is final.
14. Results
Provisional Results will be posted on the Event Notice Board after the conclusion of the competition. Official Results will be published as soon as final Protocol and Protest Resolutions are completed.
15. Prize Giving
Gold, Silver and Bronze Medals will be awarded, in each age group.

16. FIS
Where applicable, International Ski Federation (FIS) rules will apply to the competition events of the South African National Ski Championships.
