. world ski news : Hayboeck prevents third victory of Wank - 13 Август 2011 - 21:07

SKI JUMPING. Michael Hayboeck prevented the third victory in a qualification of Andreas Wank. After the German won the qualifications in Hinterzarten and Courchevel, it also seemed as if he would celebrate another success at the FIS GP in Einsiedeln. But the last jumper who had to qualify was better than Wank. Austrian Michael Haybock won with 127.6 points only the tiny margin of 0.1 points ahead. Denis Kornilov from Russia finished third (125.2 points).

Behind the second Austrian Manuel Fettner (4th), Ondrej Vaculik was the best Czech as fifth. Rune Velta from Norway came in sixth ahead of the two veterans Jakub Janda (CZE) and Noriaki Kasai who will start his 23rd World Cup season next winter.

Ammann not in his best shape yet

Canadian Mackenzie Boyd-Clowes finished on a good tenth place and with this result he confirmed his 13th place from Courchevel.

Simon Ammann had still some room for improvement in his first appearance in the FIS GP 2011. The Swiss superstar easily qualified for the competition, but he's still behind the top ranks. The 15th place in the qualification can not be the final word of the four-time Olympic Champion. The three young jumpers of the Swiss team could not qualify for the competition, so Ammann will be the lone Swiss athlete in the home competition at the "Andreas-Kuettel-Hill".

Hautamaeki not competing

With 111.5 m, Tom Hilde showed the longest jump of the ten best athletes of the FIS GP 2011. Hayboeck won with a jump on 109.5 m. Also strong: Taku Takeuchi (JPN) with 109 m and Germany's Richard Freitag, Norwegian Johan Remen Evensen and Robert Kranjec (SLO) who all landed on 108.5 m.

Morgenstern will not take the long trip to Asia for the next competitions and will train instead. He will compete again in the home events in Hinzenbach on October 1st. Morgenstern will skip the three competitions in Japan and Kazakhstan.

Matti Hautamaeki will not compete in Einsiedeln and went back to training after his 50th place in Courchevel. At least four Finns could qualify for the competition on Sunday (1:00 pm CET live on FISskijumping.com).
