SKI JUMPING, COC-L. After her third place in the first Continental Cup competition in Oberwiesentahl on Friday, Daniela Iraschko could defend her lead after the first round this time and celebrated her first victory of the season.

The World Champion from Austria won on the "Fichtelberg-hill" with 104 m and 97.5 m and a total of 252.5 points. "After the wind lottery on Friday, the competition was very fair today. It was fun to jump with very nice weather", said Iraschko.

The second place went to the only 13-year-old Slovene Ema Klinec (101.5 m and 95 m; 243.0 points), who stood on the podium for the first time in a COC after finishing in the Top 10 three times recently. "It's incredible, a dream came true."

Junior World Champion Coline Mattel from France came in third with 235.0 points and her jumps on 98 m and 95 m. "It could've worked better. My technique was not the best, I was too late at the take off. But I'm happy, this weekend was very successful for France."

Yesterday's winner, Jacqueline Seifriedsberger was fifth this time, behind Japanese Sara Takanashi.

The sixth place went to Yoshiko Kasai from Japan, followed by Lea Lemare. After her second place on Friday, the young French could achieve another very good result.

The two Slovenes Eva Logar (8th) and Maja Vtic (9th) and Yuki Ito (JPN) completed the Top 10.

COC-L: Victory for Seifriedsberger

Jacqueline Seifriedsberger won the first Continental Cup competition in Oberwiesenthal (GER). She celebrated her fourth victory in the COC in her first competition this summer.

The Austrian was only seventh after the first round with a jump on 93 m and then captured the victory with 99.5 m in final (231.5 points). "I'm more than happy that I could repeat the first place from last year. I did not expect that, although I travelled to Oberwiesenthal with a good feeling", said Seifriedsberger.

In a very close competition, the second place went to French Lea Lemare (97.5 m and 95 m), only 1.5 points behind the winner. For the 15-year-old, this was by far the result in her career. "I was disappointed with my performance in training, but not with my jumps in the competition."

In her first appearance since the World Championships in Oslo Daniela Iraschko was in the lead after the first round with the longest jump of the day on 101 m. At the end the World Champion came in third with 229.5 points.

With Julia Clair, a teammate of Lemare finished fourth, Coline Mattel completed the strong result of the French team as sixth, behind Slovene Ema Klinec.

Japanese Sara Takanachi could move up from 19th to the eighth place, shared with Katja Pozun (SLO), with a jump on 97 m in the second round.

It was a disappointing home competition for the German jumpers. Best of the team was Juliane Seyfarth as 20th.
