Say NO! To Doping is an awareness campaign created by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) for organizations to unite in support of doping-free sport. FIS is fully committed to the fight against doping and is proud to have WADA‘s endorsement for its Clean as Snow campaign which incorporates the WADA guidelines. 14 international organizations have so far embraced WADA’s awareness campaign, including FIS.

Clean as Snow starts in Kuusamo

“WADA puts great emphasis on anti-doping awareness and we have encouraged all sports federations to build their own campaigns by using the Say NO! To Doping model,” said WADA Director General Howman. “Awareness is key to spreading the anti-doping message and communicating the dangers of doping to everyone involved in sport, especially the next generation of athletes. More and more sports bodies are using the Say NO! To Doping model and we wish FIS all the best when it launches Clean As Snow at the Nordic World Cup in Finland. “

The Clean as Snow campaign is being launched with the support of the FIS Athletes’ Commission, underlining its proactive stance for anti-doping in support of fair and clean ski sports. At the FIS Nordic Opening in Ruka, all participating athletes are encouraged to promote the campaign through Clean as Snow material as well as signing up on a branded Clean as Snow plastic glass in the finish area. During the 2011/12 competition season, all FIS Cross-Country World Cup athletes’ training bibs are also branded with the Clean as Snow logo.

Athletes support the initiative

Kikkan Randall (USA), FIS Athletes’ Commission representative for ladies’ Cross-Country Skiing said: "We athletes are role models for thousands of young sports motivated people. We have to give the best examples. Teach them the value of a clean sports performance for their future career and future health! That is my message."

Jan Schmid (NOR), FIS Athletes’ Commission representative for Nordic Combined added: "’Clean as Snow’ is a great initiative, one that I fully support. There's already great work being done in the fight against doping, but mostly after-the-fact testing. ‘Clean as snow’ sets focus on the pre-emptive aspect; the much needed ’honor code’, a competitor’s inner wish is to have clean and fair competitions. We want no doping in our sports!"
