ALPINE SKI. 5-6.04.2005. Bansko. SUPER PHOTOGALLERIES HERE !!! The elite alpine ski-racing season 2004-2005 in Bulgaria rounded off with the most successful FIS competition for Bulgarian Ski Federation for the last 15 years. Held on the new slope “Ulen-Bansko” at the Shiligarnika place, the competition enlisted the most talented skiers from Slovenia, led by the super star Jure Kozir.
Jure Kosir (Slovenia)
Along with all Bulgarian national alpine racers, in the slalom contest took part the Greek “A” team, high-class competitors from Czech Republic, Poland, Serbia, Romania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Macedonia, as well as one Austrian perspective racer.
The organizations, Bulgarian Ski Federation and “Ulen” AD, took perfect care of the security and the course maintenance. Once again, they proved that the level of the alpine races in Bulgaria continuously rises. Furthermore, the good weather also contributed to the success of the organization.
Stefan Georgiev (Bulgaria)
In the first run on the first slalom, first time gave Stefan Georgiev – the best skier from Bulgaria. Finally, the second run placed him on 5-th position, lowering his FIS points below 20. The winner was Jure Kosir, followed by Bohumir Zeman from Czech Republic. Third place took the young Wolfgang Hoerl from Austria.
Best performance in the ladies’ race demonstrated the Slovenian participants - Petra Robnik – first place and Monja Urbic – 3-th place. Between them, on second place, classified Mojca Rataj from Bosnia and Herzegovina. Dessislava Djurova stepped on 5-th position, Maria Kirkova – 8-th and Gergana Schokova – 9-th.
Drago Grubelnik (Slovenia)
The champion in the second slalom, the next day, was again Jure Kosir. Drago Grubelnik (Slovenia) classified second, right before Wolfgang Hoerl (Austria). Georgiev gave 5-th time in the first run, but unfortunately didn’t finish the second.
This time, Monja Urbic grabbed the first win, followed by Mojca Rataj and Petra Robnik at 3-th position, the front scheme remaining the same as in the previous slalom.
The prize giving ceremony took place directly after the final slalom. The prizes were bestowed on the best racers by the officials of Bulgarian Ski Federation - the President Mr. Tzeko Minev, the Vice-President Mr. Georgi Bobev, the General Secretary Mrs. Pepa Mitzeva and the Technical Delegate from Macedonia – Mr. Bojan Panovski.
The competition has been very well received by the general public and media.
