SOELDEN ( 23/10/2005 13:54 ) Hermann Maier won the opening World Cup GS on the Soelden's slope. Herminator preceeded of 7 hundrettes the defending Wolrd Cup champion Bode Miller who leaded after the first run.
This is the 51st triumph for Herminator in World Cup's races. Rainer Schoenfelder took the third position and the best result ever in GS, his teammate Benjamin Raich, defending GS World Cup champion, finished fourth ahead of surprising Canadian Francois Bourque and Massimiliano Blardone of Italy.
Ted Ligety of US signed the best performance in the second run, he took the 8th final position behind Fredrik Nyberg and his career high.
Tina Maze triumphs in Soelden
SOELDEN ( 22/10/2005 13:58 ) Tina Maze of Slovenia won the openning World Cup GS that took place in Soelden. Maze, 22, also won on this slope three years ago, tied with Andrine Flemmen and Nicole Hosp.
This is the fith triumph in WC race, all in GS, today she preceeded Janica Kostelic and Anja Paerson, the croatian was the fastest in the second run. Tanja Poutiainen, leader after the first run, finished in 11st position due to a big mistake in the second track.
Kathrin Zettel of Austria caught the fourth place ahed of her teammate Andrea Fischbacher. Disappointing performance for the US National Team, Kristina Koznick, better in Slalom, was 17th.

The FIS Women's and Men's Alpine Skie World Cup is held for the 9th time in Soelden/Tirol/Austria on October 22 and October 23,2005. Traditionally the Ski World Cup will beopened by the Women's Giant Slalom on Saturday.
