The Bulgarian winter resort of Bansko will host a men's downhill competition for the European Cup on March 7 and 8.

Today the director for snow control at the International Ski Federation (FIS), Mr. Sepp Messner, gave permission for the event after examining the condition of the ski run beneath Todorka Peak. He was accompanied by the director of the competition Valentin Stefanov.

Mr. Messner told the Organizing Committee he was surprised that the downhill run was so well prepared. Mr. Messner is former coach of the Italian national Alpine skiing team.
