On January 28, 2009, the Bulgarian Ski Federation officially launched the pilot project "Learn to ski". The idea of the project is to enable children who live near the mountain, free to learn to ski. This will help to improve their physical and general health. Thus, significant and lasting will increase the number of sports during the winter months children.
Key partners of the Bulgarian Ski Federation in this noble initiative is Regional Inspectorate on Education Sofia city and the State Agency for Youth and Sports. Equipment for children is provided by Max Sport with the support of Atomik. Project partners are Kraft Foods Bulgaria - manufacturer of chocolates "Milka".
Pilot project provides a total of 3500 students from class I to IV from Sofia to get closer to the ski sport. Training takes place within a 4-day intensive course in December 15, 2008 - March 28, 2009 by leading experts in Vitosha ski schools.
The selection of children participating in the pilot project has been made in advance as a condition is met, children from schools near the Aleko ski center on Mount Vitosha. In late autumn District Education Inspectorate Sofia city which has established schools in the selected metropolitan areas will participate in the program as only the Ministry of Education and Science and its regional structures are entitled to free business class students. Each of the students from class I to IV of each of the selected schools received the right to join the pilot project, using a planned curriculum in classes for the open school and thus do not violate the learning process.
Joy is that interest in the project "Learn to ski" is a huge and very large proportion, almost 100 percent of the small students have been involved in it, so that a predetermined number is expanded further.
Thus, although the official start of the project was announced today, until now 4 groups of 250-350 children have successfully undergone a ski course, and now complete their training and 5th group, bringing the total number of children involved in the project so far happened in 1500. Winning the biggest prize of the pilot project will become known to the March 28, 2009, when the best ten children from each course will be competing among themselves.
