Днес Междунардният Олимпийски комитет (IOC) съобщи, че и седемте града кандидатстващи за домакинство на XXII-ите Зимни Олимпийски игри през 2014-та година, са изпратили своите документи в МОК, съгласно процедурата за приемане на кандидатурите.

Сочи (Русия), Залцбург (Австрия), Яка (Испания), Алма-Ата (Казакстан), Пйонг-Чанг (Република Корея), София (България) и Борйоми (Грузия) изпратиха своите формуляри в централата на МОК в Лозана, Швейцария, преди изтичането на крайния срок 1 февруари.

The completed questionnaire, which marks the first phase in the procedure leading to the election of the host city of the Olympic Winter Games in 2014, should, through the responses to the 25 questions asked and guarantees requested, provide the IOC with an overview of each Applicant City's project. The responses will now be studied by an IOC-appointed working group and by the IOC Executive Board, the latter meeting in June to decide which cities will be accepted as Candidates Cities. 1

The Applicant Cities will now take part in an Observer Programme at the Torino 2006 Olympic Winter Games which opens in nine days.

The election of the 2014 host city will take place in Guatemala City in July 2007.

1 The IOC will not release any document at this stage of the procedure, but has informed Applicant Cities that they can make their responses public and post them on their websites if they so wish, as of 2 February.
