ALPINE SKI. It is now exactly one month until the FIS Alpine World Ski Championships 2013, scheduled to take place from 4th-17th February.
“We are ready – only the weather is still unclear,” said Austrian Ski Federation President Peter Schröcksnadel.
More than 150‘000 tickets have been sold so far, although tickets are still available for each competition. The most tickets have been sold for the giant slalom, slalom and men’s downhill title events.
The new finish stadion too is being finalized, with the construction expected to be finished around 26th January. The course preparations are also underway and the race slope is scheduled to be ready for action from 25th January.
The “Ski festival with heart” is going to be environmentally friendly with the organizers working hard to provide public transportation options for most guests coming to the event or travelling into Schladming during the Championships.
The opening ceremony will take place on 4th February in the Planai finish area. The exact details of the program are a strictly protected secret but one of the highlights is expected to be the appearance of the famous Lipizzan, a breed of horse closely associated with the Spanish Riding School of Vienna, Austria.
