SKI CLASSICS. The world's leading long-distance skiing championship, Swix Ski Classics, consists of six ski races across Europe; Jizerská Padesátka Czech Republic, Marcialonga Italy, König Ludwig Lauf Germany, Vasaloppet Sweden, Birkebeinerrennet Norway, and Swix Ski Classics Final Årefjällsloppet Sweden.

In order to improve the tour a few changes have been made to the Swix Ski Classics rules and regulations for the coming season. Below are some changes. To view all the rules see www.skiclassics.com:

-    The top 50 of the best skiers in each Swix Ski Classics race get points. (previously  30 skiers.)
-    The Sprint Points, also added to the team competition, have increased.
-    The SSC ranking, taking in account the last 24 months of Swix Ski Classics competitions, will be the seeding to all the Swix Ski Classics races.
-    There will be mandatory GPS devices given to the top 20 men and the top 5 women in the SSC Ranking, and extra devices to selected skiers.
-    Team Registration closes on the 1st of December 2013.
-    Each pro team may consist of up to 10 athletes and a minimum of 2 athletes (men and women included).

" The 2013 season was a great success, however we want to continuously improve Swix Ski Classics, especially interesting is the fact that 50 skiers will get points, this will improve the visibility of the smaller teams. Our Race Director has also increased the sprints points, so they will have increased value in the team competition. And of course interesting is the SSC ranking system, quite similar to the ATP ranking system in tennis. Now, let the snow fall! " says David Nilsson, CEO Swix Ski Classics.
