SKI CLASSICS. The big interest in the new Swix Ski Classics race, La Diagonela, made the local organization open up the race also for amateur skiers.
The first Swix Ski Classics race of the season, La Diagonela, on Sunday January 12th was initially meant to be a race for the professional teams only due to the cancellation of Jizerská Padesatká in Czech Republic. But the local and international interest, not to mention the chief of the ministry of sport made the organization of La Diagonela to open up the race also for amateur skiers.

St. Moritz and Engadin Valley are great winter destinations and the crew taking the challenge of hosting the race on Sunday has many years of experience with several World Cups. The new race La Diagonela will be 52 km in classic technique with two laps starting and finishing in Zuoz Village nearby St. Moritz. The terrain is relatively flat but the race will be quite tuff due to an altitude of 1700 meters and the track setting.
Swix Ski Classics is the long distance ski championships, consisting of six of the most prestigious ski events in the world: La Diagonela in Switzerland replacing Jizerská Padesatká in Czech Republic, Marcialonga in Italy, König Ludwig Lauf in Germany, Vasaloppet in Sweden, Birkebeinerrennet in Norway and Årefjällsloppet the Swix Ski Classics Final.
