Dizin is a ski resort situated to the north of Tehran in the Alborz mountain range, established in 1969. The ski season in Dizin lasts longer than in most European ski resorts (from December to May) because of its high altitude: The highest ski lift in Dizin reaches 3'600 m, making it one of the 40 highest ski resorts in the world.
Iran is a regular host of the FIS Grass Skiing World Cup events in Dizin and also hosted the 2005 FIS Grass Skiing World Championships there. The FIS Grass Skiing World Championships 2009 were staged in Horni Lhota (CZE) at the end of July, early August last year.
