WINTER GAMES NZ. The biggest snow storm in New Zealand's recent history continued today resulting in the cancellation of the cross country freestyle event at Snow Farm and the postponment of the freeski slopestyle at Snow Park NZ. The freeski slopestyle will now take place on Thursday 18 August when we are assured by those in the know we will have blue skies!
For those heading to the China vs NZ ice hockey match tomorrow night at the Dunedin Ice Stadium the start time is now 8.00pm. This is because the Chinese ice hockey team has been trying to get to Dunedin for the last two days and are now arriving late tomorrow afternoon.
The good news is we have over half a metre of wonderful, fresh new snow. The backdrop to 100% Pure New Zealand Winter Games never looked better and the athletes can look forward to superb conditions for the remainder of the Games.
Winter Games NZ Schedule Changes
Today's cross country freestyle event has been cancelled due to gale force winds and blizzard conditions at the Snow Farm. There is no contingency day. Prize giving for Sunday's sprint race is at this stage scheduled for 12 noon at the Snow Farm Lodge tomorrow, 17 August.
The Freeski Slopstyle is postponed due to weather conditions and will now take place on Thursday 18 August at Snow Park NZ with practise starting at 8.00am and heats starting at 9.15am. Finals will run from 2.00pm.
