In the second title competition at the FIS Snowboard Junior World Championships 2007 in Bad Gastein (AUT), the gold medals in parallel giant slalom went to Russia and Germany: In the ladies' final, reigning PGS World Champion Ekatarina Tudigescheva (RUS) delivered another powerful performance, beating Bulgaria's Alexandra Jekova, who grabbed her second silver after the first one in Wednesday's snowboardcross. The 19-year-old Russian champion thereby also defended her title from the 2006 FIS Snowboard Junior World Championships in Korea. Karolina Sztokfisz of Poland rounded out the podium after she beat Rosa Czipf (GER) in the small final.
On the men's side, Germany's Alexander Bergmann celebrated the biggest success in his snowboarding career, after he prevailed over top favorite Matthew Morison (CAN), who already has a World Cup victory and two WC podiums under his belt. In the battle for third, Yuuki Nofuji (JPN) grabbed the bronze medal while Daniel Leitensdorfer came in fourth.
