"Go for the Audi FIS Alpine Ski World Cup is a great event for Bulgaria because it is extremely difficult as our country to achieve to organise such a thing ... I am very pleased that we won this battle" - said the president of the Bulgarian Ski Federation Mr. Tseko Minev today at a special press conference in pressclub "Bulgaria" on the occasion of the upcoming downhill and super giant slalom for the Alpine FIS World Cup for women, which will be held on 28 February and March 1, 2009 in Bansko. Bulgaria officially received the most prestigious household in white sport after the decision of the Congress of the International Ski Federation (FIS) last week in Cape Town, South Africa.

Recognition comes several months after Bansko welcomed participants in the round of the European Cup, whose organization, in addition to very good conditions in the elite bulgarian resort, received an excellent rating from foreign experts. "Last year, we performed start for the European Cup and we received very good comments. Organization will be slightly more serious now but everything will be at right level. I hope the weather will be good, to be held the competitions" - added Mr. Minev.

Mr. Tseko Minev, who was head of the BFSki delegation during the Congress of the FIS, commented the organization of World Cup in Bansko. According to him, there will arrive between 400 and 500 competitors, coaches and service personnel. At least 200 will be official guests. Accredited journalists will be around 150, a present 13 televisions stated that they will reflect directly the event with live broadcast.
The leaders of BFSki intends to invite for the President of the Organising Committee of the Alpine Ski World Cup in Bansko the chairman of the State Agency For Youth And Sport - Mrs. Vessela Lecheva and not hidden their desire to attract as honorary chairman of the Organising Committee of the race - the Chairman of the Parlament - Mr. Georgi Pirinski, who is also former president of the Bulgarian Ski Federation.
