After yesterday’s victory in the Sprint Teja Gregorin claimed the top spot on the podium once more. In the 10 km Roller Ski Pursuit the Slovenian took the gold medal despite five penalties (0+1+2+2) in 34:40.9 minutes, 24 seconds ahead of French Marie Laure Brunet (0+0+1+1). The 19-year-old had only missed two of her twenty targets but couldn’t keep up on the track with strong roller skier Gregorin. Bronze went to Moldowa’s Natalia Levchenkova who improved from fouth place in the sprint. , Having shot only one miss, she was 49 seconds behind the winner.
With cold temperatures just below zero the pursuit felt more like a winter’s competetion than one at summer World Champioships. Gregorin was happy, nonetheless: „It’s super! After the final standing shooting I had been a little frightend that Marie Laure could attack my lead. I’m not very safe in the standing position yet, it’s the same in training. I’ll have to work on that till the winter season.“
Brunet was happy too: „I‘m still a Junior, so it’s great that I have won two silver medals. I really like competing at Haute Maurienne.“
„During the last shooting session, I even thought I could make it to the very top. But Teja has been skiing a lot faster than me. So when I had climbed the final ascend, I knew I wasn’t going to make it“.
Bescond claims her first Gold in Juniors Pursuit
In the Junior’s Pursuit, French Anais Bescond won her first title, 31.2 seconds ahead of teammate Marina Bolliet. Canada’s Megan Tandy (+57.6) finished third. The French had three misses each, Tandy missed four of the 20 targets.
