The Austrian town of Flachau staged quite some party to honor its new honorary citizen Hermann Maier. A party never seen before. More than 3000 fans attended the highly emotional show, with a few surprises.
The program depicted the career of Hermann Maier in five phases. It featured stories intermittent with videos and video greetings from stars such as Roger Federer, motorbike legend Mick Doohan or Austrian Federal President Heinz Fischer.
The famous among the guests included Niki Lauda, Ralf Schumacher, Gregor Schlierenzauer, Annemarie Moser-Pröll, Werner Margreiter, Karl Schranz, Kristian Ghedina and Reinfried Herbst, among others.
Maier, who turned 37 on Monday and after whom the main square in the town was named on Monday, was emotional. He thanked the fans in his way: a free round at the bar for everyone present...
