Austrian Ski Cross Olympic delighted
First Ski Cross training was carried out in sunshine and spring-like conditions at Cypress Mountain. There was one thing all Austrians had in common: a big smile and bright eyes. They shared enthusiasm of the Canadian Jeff Ihaksi who designed Olympic course.
"A super course which does not hurt," said Katharina Gutensohn who made after 12 years an unexpected Olympic comeback. Although jumps were long and high it was possible to manage landings as well. "Everything worked together"confirmed the Austrian Ski Coach Mario Rafetzeder.
"So geil", added Markus Wittner, "I've been working for that three years." The Tyrolean skied even a tricky section after the start in a style of a true professional.t.
World Champion Andreas Matt left an outstanding impression. He tried out some experiments and went full speed onto the second last jump. This part in soft conditions can cause some problems.
Andrea Limbacher went through a training session without problems. She has build up shepe after a crash in Lake Placid. Luckilly her right knee passed test of hard landings.
