ALPINE SKI WORLD CUP. MUNICH, Germany – It was nonstop action at Munich’s Olympia Park on Sunday evening for the FIS Audi World Cup’s first City alpine race.
With the top 16 male and female racers in the overall World Cup standings blazing down an 18-gate slalom course all afternoon in front of a massive crowd of 25,000, the two that prevailed heat after heat were Croatia’s Ivica Kostelic for the men and Sweden’s Maria Pietilae-Holmner for the women.
Making it to the final round but losing the last heat, France’s Julien Lizeroux came in second on the men’s side and Slovenia’s Tina Maze was second in the women’s race.
