СЪРФИНГ --SKI.BG-- От 27-ми септември по българското южно Черноморие се наблюдава значително сърф раздвижване. Динамичната прогноза и извилият се североизточен вятър докараха така чаканата от малцината запалени сърфисти в България вълна. Голямата новина е, че започнаха снимките на вече обявения пред публиката сърф филм 'Surfing the Wild East', проект на германския продуцент и режисьор Рене Екерт. Събитието е подкрепено от крилатата марка RedBull. Основните герои на видеото са сърфистите Ян Уолш, Пърт Стандлик и Гари Саведра. Първият стоп на екипа е на българското море.

На 28-ми септември екипът на RedBull обиколи сърф спотовете южно от Созопол и се спря на един от малките плажове северно от Лозенец. Там сърфистите прекараха около половин ден във водата карайки по различен размер и вид вълна. В затишието на 29-ти септември Рене Екерт "разкъса" райдерите със серия интервюта, след което всички се отдадоха на заслужен релакс.

Денят на истината настъпи на 30-ти септември, когато прогнозираният северен вятър стовари пълната си мощ на българския бряг. И този ден сърфистите избраха плажа на Лозенец разцепвайки вълната, която към края на деня се превърна в мощна "пералня"..

Изморени, но доволни от добрия старт на продукцията, RedBull героите се върнаха по тъмно в Созопол, където на фарове Ян Уолш даде едно светкавично интервю за SKI.BG. Интервюто се състоя на парапета на Харманите над популярния местен сърф спот. Там световно известните сърфисти се срещнаха и с един от малкото български виртуозни борд карачи - Димитър Иванински - Zavaros, с който вече ви запознахме в NO20 на списание СКИ&БОРД.

'Surfing the Wild East,' the World's First Surf Movie Funded by Crowdfunding

DAY 1: Dispatch from Bulgaria

-- Team drives across Bulgaria to the Black Sea and immediately hits waves at Harmani beach --

HARMANI BEACH -- After driving across the country between two mountain ranges in a Red Bull camper and mini bus, the Blickinsfreie team rolled up to our first spot of the trip, Harmani Beach, with a wind swell bringing a few sets in for pro surfer Aussie Perth Standlick to play with.

"It's the exact same set up as the break closest to my home. The houses on the rocks are exactly the same, and it's the same sort of point that goes out. Even the same seaweed was in the exact same spots; it was kind of eerie how identical it was."

But between the displaced hookers on the highway and the iron skeletons that once served as umbrellas for beach goers who have all but disappeared, most of us were far from anything that felt like home.

Surf expected tomorrow throughout the morning and afternoon, so it's an early rise for our team as we continue our search for surf in The Wild East.

DAY 2: Dispatch from Bulgaria

-- Walsh arrives and team gets wave action in Bulgaria --

LOZENEDTS -- An overall success today as the Blickinsfreue team defied the doubts with footage to prove surfing the Black Sea is a definite go in Bulgaria.

Waves again today did not disappoint, breaking from knee to head high and offering a solid, surfable left point for Ian Walsh and Perth Standlick on Day 2 of Surfing the Wild East filming.

With two pro surfers to document the Blickinsfreie crew scored stellar film and photos for the project. Bulgaria's only surfboard shaper, Tony Gogorov, came through to witness history in the making -- has there ever been pro surfers traveling to this sport for surf?

"I feel honored to see people like Perth and Ian surf in my area," he said. "Ten years ago you couldn't see anyone in this water, now people see it's possible and kids see it's possible; it's a chain reaction."

Like yesterday's session at Harmani beach, today's location was all to ourselves: beach huts were closed, buildings shut for the season, and a near empty beach gave the team plenty of room to move around.

"It's a desert really -- there are strange cities on the beach with no one in them here," said Standlick.

Flat conditions expected tomorrow, but another swell is to arrive by Friday morning. Having almost exhausted our Bulgaria spots, the team is inching closer towards the Turkish border where our search for surf continues through Asia to the eventual destination: Baku, Azerbaijan. - A. Sykes

DAY 3: Dispatch from Bulgaria

-- Team sinks teeth into local culture and Gary Saavedra arrives from Panama --

VARVARA -- It was downtime for surfers Perth Standlick and Ian Walsh, who spent their off day wandering the local streets and shoreline.

Meanwhile, the Blickinsfreie film crew interviewed a local historian and author who revealed what life has meant to townspeople and economies along the Black Sea.

Tomorrow's surf looks promising all day, with the strongest conditions expected to hit by afternoon before dying down to a flat Saturday. The question is, does the Blickinsfreie crew chance it to Turkey with enough time to surf this one-day window?

"We're staying. That's the final right now... but it could change in five minutes," said Walsh.

Gary Saavedra's late arrival tonight, after 24 hours of traveling more than halfway across the world from Panama, is more reason to stay put and hit the last few spots on the Bulgarian coast.

"I'm happy to be here, but I'm so tired and my baggage and boards didn't show up," said Saavedra. "But we're going to jump in the water tomorrow morning anyway, and I'm going to surf."

DAY 4: Dispatch from Bulgaria

-- Black Sea delivers mixed bag as pros search to destroy before setting off to Turkey --

LOZENEDTS -- Hard to predict and quick to change are the conditions of Black Sea surfing in Bulgaria. But when things line up, the surf is clean and untouched.
...
Blickinsfreie spent the morning scouring the Bulgarian coast as forecasts predicted strong winds and firing conditions that were ultimately delayed to a non existent status.

Running out of options, finally our Lozenedts spot delivered surfable waves by noon as our crew of pros -- Gary Saavedra, Perth Standlick and Ian Walsh -- managed to rip frontside and backside airs to 180s to 360s, floaters, barrel rides...working the waves with style and technique never before seen on these beaches.

"I was losing my board in the wind whenever I was in the air," said Walsh. "You had to take a lot of waves to find a section to work with."

Windy conditions were tough for airs, and soft splitting waves weren't easy, but sun and rumors of pros hitting local spots brought a handfull of spectators and interest to the day.

One of Bulgaria's first surfers who was part of the original Bulgarian national surf team to compete in the 1998 ASP World Tour Championship in Portugal said he had never seen surfers at this level in his country.

Saandvera, whose entire flight to Bulgaria topped USD 5,000, with lost luggage still missing in action, felt his "stress and jetlag disappear" once he was in the water.

"It's hard to catch, and you have to work hard for turns; but it's a fun wave," he said. "That session paves the trip."

"The waves are so soft. I think it's because the swell is coming in differently. But hey, there's surf," said Standlick.

Tomorrow the team continues east towards the Euro-Asia divide to Istanbul. Internet will be scarce as we venture off into more uncharted surf territory. Keep an eye out for our next update as the Blickinsfreie team continues our search for Surfing The Wild East.

On September 26, 2011, the Blickinsfreie team together with professional surfers Ian Walsh, Perth Standlick, and Gary Saavedra will embark on a three-week adventure through the Caucasus Eurasia with a mission to surf the Black and Caspian seas from Bulgaria through Turkey to just north of Baku, Azerbaijan.

Fusing the intentions to expose new surf territory with a fever for adventure and foreign land, our mission is to deliver a compelling story to an audience of core surf enthusiasts on a global level. Together we formed an international crew of surfers to write, film and photograph our travels as we discover and explore the Wild East.

Our angle? Tell a story about surfing undocumented and exotic territory with tales of traveling through countries saturated in a life that's captivating and foreign.

“Surfing The Wild East” – първият сърф филм в света реализиран с програмата краудфъндинг (crowdfunding)

На 26 Септември тази година, екипът на Blickinsfreie заедно с професионалните сърфисти Иан Уолш, Габриел Виларан, Кристобал де Кол и Перт Стендлик потеглят на три-седмично приключение през Кавказка-Евразия в търсене на сърф локации в Каспийско море - северно от Баку, Азербайджан. Съчетавайки стремежите ни за откриване на нови сърф територии и треската за приключения сред чужди земи, нашата мисия е е да представим една завладяваща история на възможно най-много сърф ентусиясти по целия свят.

Всичко започна, когато открихме, че съществува сърф сцена на българското Черноморие. Местните сърфисти споделиха идеите си за проучване на нови локации по продължението на черноморското крайбрежие и заедно формирахме екип от карачи с опит в снимането и писането, които да отразят пътуването ни докато разучаваме и преоткриваме “Дивия Изток”.
И докато планирахем пътуването и маршрута си, открихме потенциални спотове както на Черно така и на Каспийско море. Нашата финална цел сега е да осъществим 3000 километрово пътуване до Баку, Азарбайджан, където можем да караме и отразим вълни, които никога не са показвани до сега.
