The Italian winter sports federation says scans showed cranial trauma but no further head damage, and that Innerhofer did not lose consciousness. His knee was bruised and slightly twisted.
It’s unclear how long he’ll be out of action.
The accident occurred in Stubai, Austria, and Innerhofer was taken to a hospital in Bolzano.
Innerhofer won gold in super-G, silver in super-combined and bronze in downhill at last season’s world championships in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany.
With the World Cup slaloms in Levi, Finland canceled due to warm weather, the next men’s races on the calendar are a downhill and super-G in Lake Louise, Alberta, Nov. 26-27.
