SKI JUMPING. The current weather conditions are not in favor of ski jumping: There was very heavy snowfall in Bischofshofen. Although the jury decided to start training and qualification 1.5 hours earlier than planned, it was not possible to carry out a fair qualification.
After 25 athletes the jury then decided to cancell the qualification round. "We wanted to provide stable conditions in the inrun track, but we were not able to do that. Snowfall with these temperatures makes the track slow. It's too dangerous for the athletes", said FIS race director Walter Hofer. The competition will then be held with the normal World Cup format and no K.O. round. The qualification shall take place on Friday at 3:00 pm CET, the qualification is scheduled for 4:30 pm CET. "We have to hope that it will be better tomorrow", said Richard Freitag. Austrian head coach Alexander Pointner already told his pre-qualified athletes to return back to the hotel. The weather forecast is not really good for Friday either. Especially Gregor Schlierenzauer will hope for.
