The FIS Calendar Conference 2011 will take place in the tried and tested FIS meeting venue of Portoroz (SLO) starting on Wednesday, 1st June. The staff of the Hotel Bernardin is already very much looking forward to welcoming the FIS family again for the fourth time in the last 12 years. The program features the spring meetings of the various FIS technical committees (for full schedule see here http://www.fis-ski.com/data/document/fis-calendar-conference-2011-240511.pdf), the 2nd edition of the all-FIS World Cup Organizers' Seminar as well as a briefing with the Candidates for the 2016 and 2017 FIS World Ski Championships in order to review the steps and procedures until the election of the organizers by the FIS Council in spring 2012.
More than 200 representatives of various FIS World Cup organizing committees and National Ski Associations have signed up for the Organizer Seminar running over two half-days. The meeting aims to stimulate further development of FIS World Cup events, transfer knowledge, and provide new ideas and networking opportunities both across the discipline borders as well as among organizers within a single discipline.
Entitled "Optimizing media exposure for FIS World Cup Events", Saturday's cross-discipline plenary sessions focuses on recent changes in the overall media landscape that have fundamentally altered the environment in which sports, including ski sports, operate. It seeks to explore both the opportunities and challenges provided by the digital revolution and to define strategies for optimizing ski sports' future media exposure. On Sunday, discipline-specific break-out groups will focus on topics of importance to each discipline.
