ROLLER SKI. After eight tough races since the Roller Skiing season began in June, it is now taking a break, which provides a good opportunity to review the competitions so far.
Looking ahead to the remaining six competitions in Greece and Italy, Swedish athletes Marika Sundin and Anders Svanebo are dominating the ladies’ and men’s overall World Cup rankings.
Marika Sundin reached the podium in all three of last weekend’s competitions at Bad Peterstal (GER) and so far collected a total of 500 points. Nevertheless, the runner-up on the ladies’ side Ksenia Konohova (RUS) is just 56 points behind, while her compatriot Elena Rodina is in third place.
In the men’s compeititons, Anders Svanebo enjoys a comfortable 98-point lead ahead of Simone Paredi and Sergio Bonaldi (both ITA). After three days of racing in Bad Peterstal last weekend, the FIS Roller Skiing World Cup will take a break until 24th August when it travels to Tripoli (GRE) for the next three competitions.
The World Cup finals determining the winners of the crystal globe will be held on 14th September in Toblach/Dobbiaco (ITA).
