The second feminine event of these 40th world championships concluded on a very surprising fall as it is the Austrian runner Zettel, excellent specialist of the technical disciplines, who won in front of a large public, after the two round downhill. Zettel, already ahead of many victories in slalom and giant slalom, finished 2nd of the Super combined in Zauchense, Austria, right behind Vonn. Despite the fact that she wasn't considered to be a favourite runner, taking into account her lateness in the first round, she took advantage of her qualities as a specialist of the slalom discipline, to face the very selective slope of Rhône Alpes, and establish a time base well out of the other skier's range. Vonn, top leader after the descente event, has made numerous errors in the slalom and also missed a blue door which was situated half way down. Author of the second best time of the race, she was thereby disqualified, and thus, the second place and silver medal are given to the young Lara Gut right before the Austrian runner Goergl, 3rd of the slalom discipline. Lara Gut: "I still today have difficulties realizing what is happening to me. I really didn't expect this victory today because I haven't been running super combined races for a long time; it is still very recent for me."
