Ticket sales for the FIS Alpine World Ski Championships 2011 were opened on 1st July, initially to the local community in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, and from 1st August for everyone. The initial sales have been very encouraging. For the ladies' slalom, which will see three local heroes - Maria and Susanne Riesch as well as Fanny Chmelar - compete, 80% of the available tickets have already been sold.
"We could certainly sell even more tickets to all four events taking place during a weekend. But our capacity is limited. So, if you are interested in tickets for certain competitions in certain categories we recommend not waiting too long before purchasing," advised Peter Fischer, managing director of the organizing committee for GAP 2011.
Besides for the ladies' slalom, demand for tickets is particularly high for the men's slalom featuring Felix Neureuthe, and both of the downhill races. "We are only just about to begin our promotional activities and orders from the fan clubs and tour operators are also still pending. That's why I am very pleased with the sales so far and convinced that we will have a truly World Championship worthy atmosphere at all eleven events," Fischer adds.
GAP 2011 tickets are available at all MünchenTicket sales points or online at the event website www.gap2011.com. Fan clubs and groups with more than 30 persons receive special rates. Please contact tickets@gap2011.com or the GAP 2011 organizing committee directly at Am Eisstadion 1, D-82467 Garmisch-Partenkirchen.
