SNOWBOARD WORLD CUP. Ooops she did it again! Dominique Maltais is definitely the snowboard cross lady of the season so far. The winner of the LG Snowboard FIS World Cup’s first two sbx events posted again – just like in Lech, Austria, twice – the best qualifier time.
The Canadian fire worker blasted down the course in 1:12:31 minutes thus dominating the ladies time trials. Bulgaria’s Alexandra Jekova brought home the second best time (1:13:31) being already one second behind.
Helene Olafsen (NOR, 1:13:52) and Olympic Champion Maelle Ricker (CAN, 1:14:22) will also lead one of the four quarter final heats scheduled for up-coming Friday by placing third and fourth respectively in today’s qualifiers.
On the men’s side, Nick Baumgartner nailed the fastest time (1:08:72) having the perfect start into his winter season as he missed the first World Cups held last week. Robert Fagan (CAN) followed only 2 hundredths behind.
And also Alberto Schiavon (ITA) was still in touch with the fastest rider from the US (1:08:80). Jake Holden from Canada rounded out the good performance of his team as fourth (1:09:29).
