WORLD SKI TEST. 3-times world champion Mario Matt, Olympic gold medalist Andrea Fischbacher, Austrian Ski Association star Hannes Reichelt, Slovenian ski star Jure Kosir, world champion Frank Wörndl, the toboggan double Olympic gold medallists and world champions Andreas and Wolfgang Linger - these are just some of the stars, who at the invitation of Gerhard Brüggler were testing wintersports products from 27 to 29 March in the SkiWelt Wilder Kaiser – Brixental (www.skiwelt.at).
The world's biggest ski test brought international journalists from the leading wintersports media as well as current and former top athletes to the SkiWelt as testers. The testing was conducted in bright sunshine and excellent snow and piste conditions on each of the three days, starting at 7.30am and lasting until well into the afternoon, the purpose being to objectively evaluate the qualities of top products for the upcoming ski season. In total, well over 200 testers – from World Cup racing professionals and top international wintersports stars to average skiers took to the piste to give their judgement on the latest models from all the reputable manufacturers in many different categories.
The list of high-profile testers reads like a Who's Who of the international wintersports scene: current ski world cup stars such as Mario Matt, Andrea Fischbacher, Hannes Reichelt, Philip Schörghofer, Alexandra Daum, former ski aces such as Michaela Gerg-Leitner, Jure Kosir, Frank Wördl, Pepi Strobl, Mitja Valencic, Ingrid Salvenmoser, Stefan Stankalla, ski crossers Christoph Wahrstötter and Andrea Limbacher, top freeriders Liz Kristoferitsch and Flo Köfer as well as recreational skiers such as the toboggan double Olympic champions Andreas and Wolfgang Linger and the head of the Tyrol Tourist Board, Josef Margreiter – all of them and many more checked out the models for the 2012/2013 ski generation in blind tests (skis wrapped in black tape).
The following categories were tested: Women's High Performance, Women's All-round, Men's Race SL, Men's All-round, AllMountain, TwinTip, Youth Race RSL, Youth Twin Tip and OpenSpace (models that do not fit into any of the usual categories). You will be able to read the test results from the end of October in the main international ski magazines and online portals.
Completing the arduous programme for the testers were the World Ski Fashion Show with live acts in the Waldhofalm Scheffau, where the latest ski fashion trends from all major manufacturers for next winter were showcased, as well as daily ski safaris after the tests through Austria's largest interconnected ski area.
