ROLLER SKI. Marit Bjoergen topped the podium of yesterday’s roller skiing competition in Oslo. Bjoergen claimed victory by more than a second on Vibeke Skofterud and youngster Heidi Weng who stayed behind Skofterud by tiny 0.1 sec.

“It was really fun to compete here, there was a great atmosphere and a lot of people around,” Marit Bjoergen said.

On the men’s side Oyestein Pettersen was superior as he beat by half a second Eiric Brandsdal and Kent Ove Clausen. “It was great to ski in front of so many spectators. I enjoyed it. The season preparation has been good so far and I am very pleased with how I skied the final heats. It's great to get an indication that I am where I should be,” Pettersen said.

Oslo Skishow is an annual roller skiing competition of both Norway's and foreign Cross-Country skiing stars with start and finish line at Aker Brygge in Oslo.

The event is organized by the Norwegian Cross-Country team together with its main sponsor Aker and Oslo district ski clubs. The skiers have decided that profits from Oslo Skishow will go to the foundation active against cancer and its efforts.
The first time Oslo Skishow took place, was on 22nd June last year. More than ten thousand spectators saw the competition of both elite class and a separate business class. Patients and their families of Ullevål University Hospital made also the trip to Aker Brygge. Some of the patients signed diplomas, and handed them over to the winners. The entire Norwegian Cross-Country team ended the day with jumping in the water for a good cause!

FIS Roller Skiing World Cup 2012 kicks off in Croatia on 16th June
On 16th June, FIS Roller Skiing specialists will start their quest for the crystal globes as the FIS Roller Skiing World Cup 2012 begins. Italy’s Simone Paredi and Guro Stroem Solli of Norway will be defending the overall titles.
The FIS Roller Skiing World Cup 2012 will feature 15 races in four countries. The series will kick off in Oroslavje, Croatia with free technique mass start uphill competition and free technique sprint. After Croatia the World Cup circuit will visit traditional locations as Markleeberg while Bad Peterstal in Germany will take over in July. In August, the FIS Roller Skiing World Cup travels to Tripoli, Greece where three competitions will take place from 24-28th August.
The FIS Roller Skiing World Cup 2012 will conclude in the well-known resort of Toblach/Dobbiaco. Classical interval start, team sprint and free technique interval start competitions are on the schedule from 14-16th September.
