ISPO BRANDNEW 2013. On Tuesday evening the jury made its final selection for the 25th edition of the ISPO BRANDNEW competition. Twelve experts, among them former ISPO BRANDNEW winners and finalists, chose the eight most innovative newcomers from 255 entries. Right after the jury meeting, the jury announced the most exceptional participants in the world’s largest young entrepreneurs’ competition in the sports business.
Entries had to impress the jury in regards to Marketing, Design, Innovation and Market Relevance at the jury meeting on December 4th. Jury foreman Reinhard Pascher of Agency Pascher + Heinz emphasized that it was not an easy decision for the jury of experts. The entered products all seemed to have a similarly high level of quality. The ISPO BRANDNEW Award, to be presented for the 25th time during ISPO MUNICH 2013, February 3rd to 6th, is considered a trend barometer and stepping stone for young brands to gain a foothold in the international sports business. The eight selected winners now have the best prerequisite for a successful market launch.
Hardware Winter: Splitsticks (Austria) Splitsticks developed a binding system for split boards, according to the jury “the best system available today”, and worthy of the winning spot in the category Hardware Winter. The system can be mounted as a touring binding, and in just a few steps the board turns into two skis, or back into a snowboard with the appropriate binding. www.splitsticks.com
Hardware Summer: Áetem (Germany) The young Munich-based company Áetem is passionate about the new sport of Seatrekking, snorkeling and diving with a waterproof backpack day after day, discovering the nature of the world’s coastlines. Nights are spent on land. Áetem developed the Premium Seatrekking Packs, which can be used as bodyboard, backpack or trolley. www.seatrekking.com
