HOT. Lindsey Vonn, who recently retired as one of the greatest ski racers ever, male or female, will be a part of Sports Illustrated's annual Swimsuit Issue.
Sports Illustrated announced the news Friday in an Instagram video featuring Vonn, who will be participating in a Swimsuit Issue photo shoot for a third time. She'd previously appeared in the 2010 and 2016 editions of the issue. This time Vonn was photographed by Walter Chin in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.
On Feb. 1, the 34-year-old Vonn announced her retirement from competitive skiing, wrapping up one of the most accomplished careers in U.S. skiing history. Her final competition was the world championships in Sweden, where Vonn capped her career by earning the bronze medal in the downhill. In all, Vonn has collected 82 World Cup victories in her career — second only to Ingemar Stenmark's 86 — and was an Olympic champion, winning gold in the downhill at the 2010 Winter Games in Vancouver.
On Thursday, UFC fighter Paige VanZant announced that she would become the second fighter in UFC history to appear in Sports Illustrated's Swimsuit Issue. Former UFC champion Ronda Rousey was part of the issue in 2016.
This year, Sports Illustrated is moving the publication date of its Swimsuit Issue, pushing it from February to May.
