SKI CLASSICS. The third event in Visma Ski Classics Season X is La Venosta, a completely new ski event in the Venosta Valley in Northern Italy, the western part of South Tirol. The distance of the Visma Ski Classics race is 45 km and it takes place for the first time on Saturday the 14thof December 2019. There is also a 30km race open for recreational skiers starting after the elite race on the same tracks at 12.00, first edition of La Venosta is limited to 500 skiers.
“We are proud to introduce this completely new event into our Visma Ski Classics season X calendar. For several years we have been looking for an event suitable to expand our December event calendar. Due to the fact that the course will be 5 loops for elite and 3 for recreational skiers, we have to have different start times. Female Pro Team skiers will start first and after their competition is done the men pro team athletes will start, thereafter the recreational skiers. This make sure that all skiers get best possible experiences, and 30km in Demceber on high altitude is definitely long enough for recreational skiers, after all it is the start of the winter. The new La Venosta event in the Venosta Valley is a perfect match for our pro tour, also offering a breathtaking nature scenery. It will be exciting to show Vallelunga to the world. ” says Visma Ski Classics CEO David Nilsson. “As the holiday region Reschenpass, we are honored that Vallelunga valley presents the venue of such an important cross-country skiing event and we are certain that this event, La Venosta, will reach awareness in the world of cross-country skiing which will also increase the popularity of the region. The remote Vallelunga valley is predestined to become a great cross-country skiing region and offers participants a unique experience.” says Gerald Burger – CEO of Holiday Region Reschenpass.
